About Us
Our Mission
To fulfill the pressing need to achieve climate change sustainability by 2040, our mission is to promote environmental and climatic sustainability in various communities in Freetown, Sierra Leone, through plastic recycling and planting of trees.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build a robust community to combat climate change and create a sustainable environment free of plastic pollution. Through improved collaboration in waste management systems, climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, sustainable environmental management, and livelihood enhancement outreach programs, we aim to drive lasting impact across communities in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Our Approaches
Addressing plastic pollution requires practical, community driven, and system based solutions particularly in urban communities such as Freetown, where waste management challenges are compounded by limited public awareness. As such, we have developed the following three step approach to address this issue:
1. Raising Awareness
While many individuals recognize the convenience of plastic packaging for carrying goods from markets and supermarkets, there is limited understanding of its long term environmental consequences. Single use plastics are often discarded into streets and drainage systems. During heavy rainfall, these plastics are washed into rivers and oceans, contributing to marine pollution, flooding, and environmental degradation.
To combat this and raise environmental awareness, we conduct community education campaigns across Freetown to increase public understanding of:

-
the environmental and health impacts of plastic waste;
-
the connection between plastic disposal and flooding;
-
the effects of plastic pollution on marine life; and
-
the economic opportunities that can be derived from recycling.
By strengthening environmental awareness, we foster responsible waste practices and community ownership of climate action. When individuals understand the negative impacts of plastic waste on the environment, it will benefit our initiative and the environment.
2. Encourage Plastic Waste Gathering
Building on awareness efforts, we promote behavioral change by encouraging households and businesses to properly segregate plastic waste using designated trash bins deployed in targeted communities. Individuals are encouraged to:

-
separate plastics from organic and general waste;
-
dispose of plastics in designated collection points; and
-
participate in community clean-up initiatives.
This approach reduces indiscriminate dumping and improves the efficiency of the recycling value chain.
3. Recycling
Collected plastic waste is recycled into high quality, reusable shopping bags that can be used at our partner stores within the local manufacturing and distribution industries. These eco-friendly bags are designed to replace single use plastic bags in supermarkets and mini-markets etc.

To incentivize the adoption and use of the reusable shopping bags, the bags incorporate a unique bar-coded technology based rewards system that provides bonuses and discounts to users at participating stores. Through strategic partnerships with retail businesses, we encourage sustainable consumer behavior while reducing plastic waste generation.

In addition, we:
-
supply secondary plastic raw materials to the local manufacturing industries in Sierra Leone thereby reducing their dependence on expensive imported raw materials by providing affordable, locally sourced recycled plastics; and
-
supply different plastic manufacturing and recycling companies internationally with plastics to support their day-to-day operations.
